Yea. My first exposure to farm life was like this. A childhood friend had a small home farm in a city when you were allowed. He had a few chickens, a few goats and some sheep. One day turning a corner I see his mom "prep" a chicken for dinner. It shocked 12y me. I mean it prepped me for later I guess. If I needed to I could slaughter a cow. It took me twice to learn how.
I still remember the smell of a chicken being plucked by my gran. It stinks. I eat leftover roasts/kfc cold because microwaved they have the same smell.
