Rewatched The Fly. Yeah this movie is awesome. I think it is bordering on being a legitimately perfect movie.

Roadgames is barely a horror movie at all (Letterboxd does call it one and this is why I watched it, but it's closer to a straight-up thriller). However , it is a great movie, and well worth your time for that reason. For most of the movie, Stacy Keach plays essentially the only character (the only other character in the movie as much as he is is his character's pet Dingo), and he is terrific. It is also full of great camera work that does a lot to keep the movie interesting even during lulls.

Gotta blast through a bunch of movies that are sub 90 minutes. Thankfully the horror genre is lousy with those. The Puppet Master I watched the other night was like 75 minutes or something.

I've watched a bunch this week. The only ones that were good were The Incident in Ghostland and The Mimic. Haunt was just good enough, where I'd say give it a watch, but don't expect too much. The rest were either painfully mediocre or just plain bad.

idk if this is a hot take, but I thought The Monkey - though not offensively terrible - was pretty bad. I just didn't think it was scary or (usually. there were like three things that actually did make me laugh out loud.) funny and the severe lack of buildup to absolutely anything does pretty much nothing but hurt it.

Watched 3 today so I am finally on track for where I want to be. Halloween night is always 2-3 movies anyway, so I'm golden.

Companion was good stuff. Nothing to set the world on fire, but a very fine time.

Dead Mail I liked a lot. Real gritty (without coming across as tryhard at all) and sort of an unorthodox pace to it. Good performances. Big thumbs up.

Together was alright. Pretty good. Kinda wanted more. But hey it's got Alison Brie. Like there's always gonna be that.

Fucking HATED the Monkey. Painfully unfunny. There's nothing less funny than poorly executed "trying to be stupid/bad funny". Terrible writing. Hated the lead actor man, but might not be his fault with a shit script like this. Just garbo.

Possession was a fucking trip. I really did not know what I was going into. Been on my list for like half a decade and finally got to cross it off. Glad I did too cause god damn.

More of a mystery story up until the very end. Very well made. I'm not crazy about ghost movies but I can see why this is a classic.

and i'm done

new Candyman is pretty much the definition of "that'll be just fine". Not as good as the original but I think the crew overall did a good job (cinematography, music, etc. are all solid). Maybe trying to squeeze too much in the script. Needed more Tony Todd.

The Host didn't completely grab me but I thought it was very well-made. Pretty solid political satire black comedy drama monster movie.
