Is there a New Testament that cancels it, or are they just ignoring it for now?

The head of their Church says he is a Prophet of God. God spoke to him directly and said he changed his mind about blacks. The real reason was that the Mormons were planning to expand into Brazil during the 70s, and most Brazilians have some degree of African ancestry.

The Book of Mormon is a good, like, 1600 years younger than the New Testament, I don't think there was a lot of new stuff coming out.

But honestly it's because Bringham Young was a pretty successful grifter and their entire religion is barely-cobbled-together horseshit.

How you gonna be part of a religion where God himself wasn't sold on black people until 1978 lol. The goddamn US government passed civil rights before God?!

So because nothing is written, a future prophet can have another "revelation" that reverses the decision. Pretty convenient if Republicans can successfully pass all of Project 2025. At least until the Republican Christians decide to put the Mormons on the chopping block.

Technically this can happen with any religion so long as said "revelation" gains popular traction. Luckily most denominations of Christianity are distrustful if not outright hateful of one another so it'd take a pretty strong personality to unify them into one vision.

Yes it is, read it again.
The world became more "woke" and they couldn't get away with their racist shit anymore while being considered a legitimate religion. They still believe whites are superior.

Nah, he's right, I aged up the Book of Mormon by a good 200 years or so.

I saw some 70s anti Mormon videos that used the no Black people rule as a selling point. Quite the coincidence that the 70s were also the time they decided to change that rule.

I always think back to what George Carlin wrote.

Mormons follow the book of Mormon

But not sure but think that book says the thing about black people

Reminds me of that one Zero Punctuation where Yahtzee kept flashing a picture of him with his black friend on screen as evidence that he wasn't racist.

Say what you want about Yahtzee, that was actually pretty funny.
