The James Bond films are such a weird thing

They have 25 movies, most series barely get past 3, they are based off a novel series but often have very little in common with them and yet despite these things you rarely get people saying stuff like "they should give it a rest already" or "its way too different from the novels"

Its mostly just wondering whats next and people speculating who'd make good future casting choices.

"they should give it a rest already" is typically when they bring in a new Bond (Moore's run notwithstanding)

A lot of people who never had an opinion on the matter would suddenly being saying They should give it a rest already if they cast a black guy as the next Bond.

The reason you dont get much complaints about the movies being different from the books is that the movies started at a time when most people didnt care about that. And these days I dont think the average person is even aware the movies are based on a book series.
