It is the only FE game I have never played so I figured I should at least give it a go.

But goodness everything about this feels wildly out of my video game wheelhouse. Like what the fuck am I playing?

It's basically Persona or SMT with some Fire Emblem character and class references. I kinda liked the J-Idol wrapper: it wasn't something I was used to.
My favourite Wii U game. Really underrated
It's 100% a Persona game.
Except there's also some FE characters.
And everyone's idols for some reason.

...Honestly it's unexpectedly a good game.
What a fuddy duddy.
heh, I was reading a topic on the switch 2 board the other day and looked this game up, had never heard of it before

smt and fe sounds cool
........the ghost in the machine...

Okay despite every single line in the game up into that point being voiced in Japanese I was somehow still surprised when Tiki didn't have a British accent. I don't know why my brain expected that, maybe because she actually looks like Tiki unlike the other FE characters who look nothing like their counterparts.

TMS is like the most average game I've ever played. I couldn't muster up any strong feelings about it either way.

I will say that I wouldn't recognize it as anything even loosely related to FE without the overt references. Even the cameo characters don't really feel all that similar to who they're referencing.

I make Fire Emblem videos. Sometimes.
I guess Ilyana working at a cafe and Anna being a shop keeper largely makes sense.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions was such a weird game. Barely any Fire Emblem influence at all. But damn if the turn based gameplay wasn't fun.

I hope you're playing the Switch version though. You're gonna want that ability to speed up combat later on

TMS was better than it had any right to be as far as being a game goes. The subject matter could be surprisingly funny at times (like the end of Ellie's story is hilarious) while also being rather awkward (especially if you know who Barry is based off of).
I will rule the world, and find that truly good cup of coffee.
