r/startrek and related subreddits have gradually been leaning more and more towards "Janeway was right," and I honestly think that's an indictment of current society.
The arguments for killing Tuvix are:
-
Killing one person (who shouldn't exist) to save two
-
The crew needs Tuvok and Neelix/ they're traumitized by Tuvix's presence.
-
Their families need them
-
"The needs of the many (two + the crew) outweigh the needs of the one (Tuvix).
Here's a recent example: https://www.reddit.com/r/startrek/comments/1lj2pll/i_really_dont_understand_how_anyone_could_ever/
She killed an innocent man to revive two others. To me, it's no different than harvesting a living person for parts. "There's no correct answer," bullshit. You don't harvest living people for parts, especially when that person vehemently denies consent.
