I can't find the quote, but IIRC, the creator didn't really want to make any sequels. He made We Katamari somewhat out of obligation, it was awesome, then he wanted to make more original ideas.
Feels kinda disrespectful in that regard that Namco Bandai made two shitty mobile Katamari games.
From what I remember, the creator is more of an artist than a game maker. He just used the gaming medium to create Katamari Damacy. Was suppose to be a one and done. Then it was a surprise hit and he was convinced to make We Love Katamari.
