It was really good, no complaints about pacing or anything. I actually enjoyed the more cinematic approach for Season 1, but I'm fine with a more simplified, closer-to-the-manga art style. I do wish they did let the colors pop a bit more during the action scenes. When they kill the Typhoon Devil the color shifts to the colors and shading of the first manga cover. I kind of wish more of the fight sequences were colored that way - I don't mind the lifelike look for the non-action scenes.

I was hoping the film would end on Denji waiting until night in the cafe, but they put it in the aftercredits. It's not a big deal, but Denji legitimately depressed because he never knew Reze tried to come back for him was the somber note I wanted them to end the movie on (before Power comes in lighten the mood at the very end).

I watched it Friday night. Amazing movie, 11/10

The animation was top tier, the music slapped. Just a great time all around

Bump for day people.
I've been reading for a while now and the part covered by this film is certainly a highlight. (Havent seen the movie yet myself though)

Hopefully we get more adaptations. I'd love to see people's reactions to Chainsawman Part 2.

or the part right before that tbh
Gonna be fun watching the anime-onlies react to that scene.

I think Part 2 would definitely benefit a lot from an adaptation. Im enjoying Part 2, but the art did take a noticeable hit during the hiatus between Part 1 and 2. I blame that more on Jump, but notably Dadadans author stopped being an assistant after Part 1 to start his own series, and Dandadan always looks stellar.
Thanks I will
Don't like it? Don't watch it. It's that simple

Mostly in the backgrounds. His characters have always looked a little "ugly" outside of Makima who he spent extra careful attention to drawing well because he specifically wanted her to stand out (and he also likes strong, domineering women and wanted to make that very clear, lol)

I mean yeah, but I feel like getting the rest of Part 1 adapted at this point is a given.

So is this movie something new or is it a retelling of season 1? I swear I heard the latter somewhere but that doesnt seem right. I have yet to watch s1 though.

Reze is a character that had not appeared in the anime yet

this is about the manga pages right after where the last anime episode ended

Season 1 is slightly less than the first half of the first saga of chainsaw man, the public safety saga

reze arc movie is the direct continuation of season 1 and will put the progress at very slightly over halfway roughly. A season 2 of chainsaw man would finish off the first saga most likely.

the reze arc, imo, is where chainsaw man starts to get really good in the manga. And it keeps getting better all the way until the end of the saga.
Okie dokie. Thanks for the heads up, friends. Ill make chainsaw man my next watch then! I needed something new after finishing season 2 of Kaiju No. 8.
Hmm...
I've never seen the show before, but one of my nieces has been excited for this movie since over a year ago. Unfortunately, there are no good show times we can attend that don't cost $25+ per ticket.

Likewise Part 2 spends a long time establishing itself before it starts to get good, but once it gets there damn is it fun.

Is this definitely true?

Nobody read this, manga spoilers for saga 2
i found everything at the start of the second saga super interesting. asa and the war devil, nayuta, etc. "don't come to school tomorrow". all of it was so good imo. then it sort of just got boring. denji isnt allowed to fight, they're bullying denji, asa got friendly with denji in a back alley and now his house is burned down? i cant remember when i stopped reading, i think asa was infiltrating some facility with some other devils. does chainsaw man get good again?

Tbh I kinda lost track of wtf is going on halfway through CSM 2. Now I just read new chapters but can't connect the dots anymore.

So uh, I mean. "True" is kind of an oxymoron since I'm sharing an opinion, but anyways.

It's complicated. So I liked the early parts of CSM2 when it was focusing on Asa but like you, once it became the Denji show again it felt like it was starting to lose steam. And while I liked the Asa stuff the worldbuilding of CSM isn't really the strength of it to me. To me the strength is about Denji's growth as a person. His desire to connect, how simple wants turn into existential needs. We see a guy go from having life goals in the range of "It'd be nice to eat toast once" to "I love my friends and I don't want anything to happen to them." CSM is always good, but it's at its best when we're watching Denji grow and struggle against a world that doesn't particularly care about him.

So for CSM2 I thought we were doing that again but with Asa as the new main character. I was on board with that but then we switched back to being primarily about Denji, and worse it felt like the manga was kind of just pissing all over the poor guy and trying to see how badly he could be broken. But there's a point where it just kind of. Clicks. It all comes together and things start unfolding in rapid order. And the current events are just. So fucking tense. I'm dreading each chapter that releases and I have no idea how it's going to end. I want happiness for Denji, and Fujimoto seems willing to deliver, but damn is Denji going to go through hell and back to get it.

If you want a real meaty spoiler to have a specific, concrete reason to get hooked back in. Shoot me a DM. I'm not willing to share this spoiler in the thread because it's far too big to allow an accidental syntax or quote error ruining things for anime-onlies itt. But suffice to say, CSM2 seems to have entered its endgame.
