It's definitely eyebrow raising. Then again the youngest person is 26 and that's well into adulthood, so I don't see any reason to care.

For my own preferences it is. I dont have an issue though with their situation though because of the ages.

I do think its creepy when one person is like just at 18 and the other is 40+. Legal or not I totally think its wrong. But at 26 I dont care.

For me -- yeah. I dated someone 9 years younger than me (I was 36, they were 27) and that was challenging at times in terms of pop culture references or general life progression (professional progress, kids or lack thereof, etc).

If both hottie mcHotterson and this new bitch can make it work, good on them.

Isn't that where the "half your age plus 7" thing comes from?

But she's 26, not like 19 so I'm less upset over it. There's worlds of difference between like 19 and 22 and 25, but increasingly less as you become more of an adult.

Its a weird thing where I think its more or less fine, but drop 5 years from both of them (so it'd be 40 and 21) I'd be a lot more grossed out by it.

A little surprised by this topics reaction, I'm so used to the gen-z/alpha perspective that virtually all age gaps are bad regardless of context or actual ages.

Honestly, I do lean into the "mind your own business" category, especially after like 25.

I still stand by that tinge of discomfort I initially expressed in my self-deleted post. Mostly because there still is a maturity gap, I just think back to when I was 26 and I felt like I knew how the world worked but I just didn't.

Then that is for them to work through as a couple, same as any other potential issue. But it isn't inherently bad.

For me personally, all that bothers me is that I am now more aware of my mortality and I dont want to saddle my wife with caring for my old ass :(

I think it's definitely because it's a "life experiences" kind of thing rather than just direct numbers. At 26 you've been more or less a fully grown adult for a while. So a big age gap isn't that big of a deal, compared to someone like 18. And basically every adult over the age of 26 can look at how wildly different they were between 18 and 26.

An Age gap of like 26-18 is way more uncomfortable that 45-26, even though the latter is a much larger gap.
