Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
The first Berserk series in the late nineties. The only anime series I could think of that had a big "wow" shock moment, similar to a couple episodes from Game of Thrones. Although it had problems like other animes I've watched. This series's main one being it justBasedends without any resolution to the main plot, as the manga the show was adapting was still on-going at the time. The show also botched not having one major character from the manga in it.

Row Row Fight the Powa
What makes frieren such a good anime? I feel like it's story is told much better in Manga form than in anime. The music and animation is incredible.
The music and animation is incredible.I like those vignettes where the characters are just meandering about town and being casual. Those moments don't seem to translate too well in the anime cause, well, they're boring, and anime is a dynamic visual medium. I think taking frieren off the page just causes it to lose those moments that make the manga amazing.

I haven't watched Steins Gate and I'm not sure I'd call Frieren the best anime. For one, it's not done .
@AceMos how do you feel about Kill la Kill vs TTGL and why?
I voted Frieren but it's scary 'cause it's not over. So the ending could end up being bad or it could possibly not get an ending. I do still think season 1 is basically perfect though.
The music and animation is incredible.
Promised Neverland
Too bad it ends after S1. Yup, such a perfect S1 cliffhanger that NEVER GOT RESOLVED.
