Americans made some baffling decisions in 2024.ftfy
It's astounding how I can muster absolutely no sympathy for these folks who voted Trump. If you ask me, I sincerely believe it's better to provide aid towards those who are willing to help back instead of taking things for granted. Both Trump supporters and protest voters have made it very clear that they will spurn and abuse others for their own selfish ends.
No more pro bono legal services. No more defenses. No more help. No more advocacy. No more protests They made the bed.
And I should care why? What's worse is that some of the racial minorities who voted for Trump are now somehow blaming the Black community for not standing by them in their time of need. Do these folks not have any sense of accountability at all for their reckless actions?
He was heavy anti-Muslim in his first term and even banned Muslim immigrants. I have more to say, but I'll leave it at that.
For conservative Muslims they bought into the culture war as they hate all the same things conservative Christians hate.
Everyone knew this would happen.
They would still vote for himBecause the other side had a woman. Something about their cultures tell me they have an issue with this. But that's old now

This. Just look at nearby Hamtramck that voted to ban pride flags permanently citywide the second there was an all muslim city council and mayor.
A lot of Muslims are very conservative socially. People in groups like this who voted for Trump are only upset because theyre the ones being attacked.
They thought they were safe or for some reason would be immune to the blatantly obvious rhetoric they were voting for.
reminds me of how many black women (historically the strongest supporters of minorities of all kinds) made it clear they are doneMy thoughts exactly. And I dont blame black women one bit.
They would still vote for him
Why couldn't they have realized this before the election?
Religion and conservative culture (mostly caused by religion) continues to hinder progress. People like this and others put hatred of LGBT+ folks, women, and other minority groups above their own survival. How can they even be reached or reasoned with?
we overcorrected. We should treat them no different than we do Christian fundiesYeah...Dems embracing Islam due to Reps hating it was a bad move. The religious extremists would get along well together (views wise) if they didn't have such a massive hatred of "the other" going on.
I get that Biden didn't do enough to help Palestine, but voting for Trump thinking he would do better is brainless, indefensible behavior. Then again, didn't Trump say that he likes stupid people or something?

Did some of these people forget the aftermath 9/11?I mean, Americans in general forgot Trump's fumbling of the pandemic and the 1/6 insurrection that he incited, and that was only four years prior.
Did some of these people forget the aftermath 9/11?They memory holed Trump's entire first term and how he began his campaign.

Right. To be honest, I wonder if the over correcting of several different things is a significant reason why things are how they are now.

Why should we take the blame when Black people as a whole were perhaps the only group that understood the assignment last fall?Us and Asians were left high and dry.
I really dislike the fact that so many people don't remember recent history THAT THEY THEMSELVES LIVED THROUGH.Yep, if nothing else they hold onto their hatred and racism. It's why the white nationalists have taken hold so strongly on the right. It sucks that we've reached this point at all
After 9/11, Islamophobia fucking exploded and conservatives largely never let that shit go. They'll literally get dementia and forget their daughter's names, where they live, where they were 5 minutes ago, etc. but they still remember that they're fucking racist and hate minorities.
Trump literally openly and proudly campaigned on his Muslim ban in the lead up to the 2016 election, and Trump supporters were loudly applauding it.
And now here we are in 2025 and they've forgotten all that somehow?
I know it is Humble's thing to focus solely on this Demographic as the scapegoats and blame them for Trump winning but I have grown pretty tired of it. All Americans that voted for Trump or refused to vote for Harris share blame in what is happening in our country. This specific Demographic doesn't deserve to be singled out like it is on this board.
They weren't the only ones that bought the snake-oil again and much larger demographics fell victim to their greater devils. Just give it a damn rest now.
Aight here we go:Great post, I appreciate the inclusion of legitimate metrics and data to support the claims made. Sadly, this is another classic Arab Americans in Dearborn Michigan topic that is posted on a near weekly cadence here, and the target response is meant to be either explicit disavowal of Arab Americans as a dependable voting bloc or introducing baseless claims that protest voters had as significant an impact on the presidential election as Trump voters.
First off, there is a difference between Arab Americans and Muslims -- but I found a rather interesting source. Per a poll featured in Zeteo (a fairly reputable news source):
* 50 percent of Muslims voted for Harris.
* 31 percent of Muslims voted for Trump
* 12 percent of Muslims voted for a third party/independent. I am assuming the remaining 7 percent didn't vote.
* Of the 31 percent who voted for Trump, 82 percent of them voted for him back in 2020.
So what does this tell us? Well, while some Muslims did vote for Trump, most didn't. This is on top of the fact that Biden was complicit in the genocide of the Palestinian people and lied over and over again. The messaging from him and democrats was essentially -- yeah we did this. And we know how much it hurts you -- but you'll still vote for us anyway.
Now me personally, I'm one of the worst Muslims on the planet, but the Palestinian genocide made me consider, for the first time in my life, not voting, or not voting for a Democrat president. Eventually I was swayed by Mehdi Hasan, who had several good arguments about why Trump would be overall worse. When I spoke to fellow Muslims (largely arab), I did my best to explain that we had to pick the overall best candidate. Even if both were genocidal, one would still be better than the other.
What gets under my skin a bit is when people somehow frame us as being the straw that broke the camels back and got Trump elected. That simply isn't true. Per the Pew Research center, Trump saw increases amongst the Black, Hispanic, and Asian communities.
To close it off, I don't deny that there are folks in the Muslim.community that are conservative as hell. But I'm just sick and tired of people making us out to be the reason we are all here right now.

They would still vote for himThat's what pisses me the hell off.

Holy shit, fuck everyone who says that.I saw this being talking about on YouTube a couple of months ago. Black political YouTubers were mocking the fools who voted for Trump, even now theyre still tearing into Black MAGA, Latinos, and Arab communities. The only groups that arent really being mocked are Asian, and Native Americans.
Black Americans tried their goddamn hardest to save the county from fascism, and it fucking pisses me off how much they have to consistently carry the party for everyone else who should goddamn know better.
