Another boomer couple at place I ate lunch couldn't stand to talk to each other or sit in the "silence" (restaurant had music actually) so they pulled out their phone to loudly watch videos.

What is gonna happen to the younger gens who got a big headstart on their addictions?

They had to be at least 70

Oh society is FUBAR in that regard. Short form videos, legally distinct gambling games, social media, so on. Most people seem to need constant validation and that sweet dopamine hit for even the tiniest most insignificant tasks these days, and it's only going to get worse.
I will often notice another couple similar in age to wife and me at restaurants that will completely ignore each other and sit in silence while mindlessly scrolling.

Also see it a lot with parents and young kids, they just hand the kid a tablet then completely ignore them.

I try not to form too many opinions on such limited information but like, damn I can't imagine taking my wife out to dinner then just staring at my phone for the whole meal.
The Legend is True!
