But further cementing the control of capital over the Democratic party is not something to celebrate.
Indeed. "He's not supporting Mamdani because he wants to keep raising money from people who push the Mamdani-type progressives out of the party" is not really a good sign, because it just shows that Schumer is rather complicit in the corporatization (is that a word?) of the Democratic party.

Democratic and Republican donations don't come from the same place. Dems get a lot more from law firms, retirees, labor unions, etc. A big chunk of people donating to actBlue are well off liberal professionals who are more leftward than a lot of the working class
On which issues are they more leftward? I find that a lot of the young urban professionals can be rather left on social and cultural issues, but then become center or center-right when economic issues come into play. You'll be surprised how often young urban professionals turn into center-right nutbags when zoning laws and affordable housing come into play
