Don't expect the wonderful insanity of Gremlins 2, the original writer is directing.

Warner Bros. Discovery chief David Zaslav announced the greenlight of a new Gremlins film during the companys third-quarter earnings call on Thursday.
Zaslav said Steven Spielberg is back on board as executive producer through his company Amblin Entertainment.
The 1984 original films writer, Chris Columbus, is also returning to produce and direct the film.

I hope they'll be using puppets again. It absolutely won't be the same with CGI gremlins.

Not a fan of them not getting Dante to direct.

Ill go into it with an open mind, but the Gremlins movies are very dear to me, so Im definitely wary.

He didn't want to direct a sequel ever, but they finally gave him a blank check. As much as I appreciate the masterpiece he gave us with 2, I'm hyped for a sequel with the original writer. He's a good director.

Joe Dante didn't even want to direct Gremlins 2. This is the second best option for a third movie.

Yeah... and look how fucking good it turned out. Imagine how even BETTER this would be if he super didn't want to do it!
