President James Garfield Netflix series starring Michael Shannon *Spoilers*

1 episode into Death By Lightning , Netflix limited series that just dropped following 20th President James Garfield (Michael Shannon) and his assassin, Charles Guiteau(Matthew Macfadyen from Succession).

So far really good. Production and set looks great. Great supporting cast like Nick Offerman, Bradly Whitford, etc.

I love a good big production with great actors in an American history drama. Like HBOs John Adams is a favorite miniseries of mine, for example.

Right up the alley of early American history buffs.

Garfield was actually a big missed chance for the country, as he started out very interested in civil rights, civil service reform, and was anti-corruption. Anything about him sounds interesting to me, albeit Id be more interested in his campaign and subsequent battle with Conkling than the lead up to his death.

Will probably watch, I know little to nothing about this period, honestly I am trash at American history

It starts off before he became President, went to nominate another as congressman but gave such great speech, people started voting for him, he ends up defeating President Grant for the nomination. The whole time he's protesting as he had no plans to run.
