It's a wonder Capcom can still milk this series after so long. Gameplay-wise, they ran out of ideas a long time ago. The two Edgeworth spinoffs played exactly like their predecessors despite having been marketed as spinoffs. Story-wise, their recycled clichés are getting real stale, too.

Is there any interesting info about AA5 yet, or did they basically only confirm it's coming and nothing else?

I wish I were more excited about this, but between AJ being kind of crappy and AAI2 never making it here, my enthusiasm for new AA games has sort of cooled off. Good job Capcom!

this would be cool news if AAI2 came out here. instead it feels kinda dangerous to miss out on it.

I think they'll localize it because it'll likely be a 3DS game and it's more likely to succeed on a new platform than a dying one like the DS, and because Layton vs Wright will come out here, but still.

I'm pretty excited about PW2 and 3 coming to IOS. I enjoyed PW1 on my iphone and it's nice to have them wherever you go.

iOS and Android users can also look forward to more Ace Attorney. Capcom announced Ace Attorney 123HD for the mobile platforms. This set combines parts 1 through 3 of the Ace Attorney series, remastered with higher resolution artwork.

The game will be released shortly on iOS, with an Android version following. The first two chapters will be free, with additional chapter packs running 600 yen. Or, you can buy the full game for ¥1,200. Those who already have Ace Attorney on iOS will be able to upgrade their current scenarios to the HD version.

Someone once told me that it's precisely because they're smaller companies that they can afford to put stock into niche games.

I never understood it myself. Seems to me that bigger companies are less inclined to work with games that won't sell like their biggest games. And even then, Capcom shot themselves in the foot with UMvC3, which actually sold pretty poorly. (I'm guessing the PR nightmare preceding it is to blame) It just seems like Capcom wants more to do with fighting games and making Call of Resident: Modern Evil than trying to sell anything else.

I understand that the DS was at the end of its lifespan, but is there seriously no other way to bring it over? It just sounds like an excuse to me.

Yes I do. And AA6's entire plot consists almost entirely of tired clichés, which enhanced the game's mediocrity since the gameplay was already so stale in the first place. Since the game will never make it to NA anyway, do you want me to post about them here? :D
