Just to clarify can we mention ports in other years? For example can Tetris be mentioned in 1989 despite making its North American debut in 1986?

Where did you get the information that Tetris had a North American debut in 1986? When I searched the site, this was the earliest known North American debut I could find:

Where did you get the information that Tetris had a North American debut in 1986? When I searched the site, this was the earliest known North American debut I could find:

As someone who's submitted a bunch so far, I'm curious what could be improved on the ones that have been coming in. Are they in some cases not listing enough games for each year or too many without enough details about the games?

Here's my 2014 Writeup

2014 was an interesting year for both sequels and new IPs. The biggest Nintendo release was by far the newest Super Smash Bros. game on both 3DS and Wii U which started the trend of DLC for the series. Other notable sequels are Dark Souls II, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Mario Kart 8, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII and Bayonetta 2. There were also a handful of games that were unique in terms of the developers or for the genre such as Destiny (Bungie), Hearthstone (Blizzard), South Park: The Stick of Truth (Obsidian) and Five Nights at Freddy's (unique horror game).

And here's my 2015 one I just submitted

2015 was a year where both sequels did unique twists with their series and new IPs did some very cool things to stick out on their own. Metal Gear Solid V had less story but succeeded by having much more open ended gameplay than its predecessors. Witcher 3 tweaked some core gameplay mechanics and is now much more popular than its prequels. Super Mario Maker is an official 2D level creator game where you can share levels with people online. Splatoon is Nintendo's version of games like Team Fortress 2 and Overwatch. Bloodborne is a spiritual sequel to the Souls series with its own unique mechanics. Undertale will be forever remembered as an indie game with its classic style and memorable quotes such as “You’re Gonna Have a Bad Time”.

To be fair I probably wouldn't do 2009 and 2012 any justice. 1993 is looking to be one of my weaker ones, (Why does GameFAQs hate computer games!).
