okay alright holdup
Alright sorry this took so long but it seems like we're all fatigued and took a break for a while.

Say Anything - Overbiter
Emo vocals dressed in a vaguely 80's pop throwback beat that suggests he's trying to affect Michael Jackson as much as My Chemical Romance. The progression doesn't interest me enough to justify the lack of development throughout, when it makes up 90% of the song it becomes intolerable. The bass part at 2:02 is about the only thing that perks my ears up here.

Night Verses: Phoenix: I. Rising II. Falling
Flashy guitar pyrotechnics and turbulent drumming make it actually go by pretty fas- wait there's still seven minutes left? Goddamnit Bane. I feel like this is Mastodon minus the charming southern twang and I like that part of Mastodon so my reaction to this is pretty neutral. It's totally competent but vanilla metal, missing some unique flavor or character to make it stand out.

Japanese Breakfast - Road Head
Combines lush atmospherics with a fat-finger bassline to strike a nice driving groove. It never reaches a destination but doesn't really need to, the sound palette is enjoyable enough to carry it the whole way what with them shimmerin' guitars n' synth leads n' dreamy vocal stacks n' whatnot.

Stewart Copeland - Brazzaville
Heavy on the electronic kit and dated keyboard patches but still manages to conjure some fresh sounds around the beginning and end, I love that stereo whirpool effect with the muffled choir voice. Not too into the midsection though and the chanting doesn't really do anything for me.

Banners - Empires on Fire
Saaaad piano w/phaser, the snooziest of progressions, dull vocals man this is just bland as fuck I gave it two listens and I'm over it. On to the next one.

Simple Plan - I Don't Wanna Be Sad
Even when it's necessarily theatrical Shad manages to find something that has a distinct "I feel a song coming on!" vibe. Just sing a happy song to cure sadness bro it's the simplest plan there is! Our protagonist finds a new lease on life.

Anna Von Hausswolff - The Mysterious Vanishing of Electra
Oh shit that's dark! video is very David Lynchy, that never hurts. Another tune with a great moment at 2:02, and then that howl at the end as they shine the brights on her! Very gripping, haunting stuff. Like Janis Joplin crawled out of the well from The Ring.

Agalloch - In The Shadow of Our Pale Companion
Some nice midrange vocals when they show up. I'm indifferent to the growly guy. Neither the songwriting or playing are super impressive but at least it's not stuck in one spot for a quarter of an hour. I wish there were more variety in the texture though. It's not a vibe I care to be stuck in for longer than fifteen minutes that's for sure.

Weird Al - Hamilton Polka
Jesus Christ. I have not seen Hamilton but god damn dude. This reminds me of when some cheeky pollsters tried to create the most annoying song of all time. Those chumps got nothing on Yankovic's formula.

1. The Mysterious Vanshing of Electra
2. Road Head
3. I Don't Wanna Be Sad

I appreciate whoever submitted the Sufjan Stevens Christmas song (maybe digi?). That plus a couple other people helped push me to become a fan of his. I just watched the Tonya Harding movie, then found his song about her and was very emotionally moved.

That plus Tee Time I think were my favorite 2 I found out about through this.
