damn I've yet to do that, ever. I need to get back on it. It's such a great game, but it gets stupidly hard at the end.

15, most of which are mobile games I played for around 2 mins at a time though, so they probably don't count.

Yeah I've gotten pretty decent at it over the years but it really does have pretty imbalanced difficulty.

My run was something like:

Lost 3 lives on stages 1-1 -> 6-2
Lost 2 lives on stage 6-2
Game over on Dracula after 2 or 3 attempts (lot of lives from points since I went through it all in one go)

Then killed Dracula before needing to continue again

I was kinda upset since I've never actually beaten the game without continuing before and I thought it was going to happen this time on my first try. Will probably replay it again when I get my controller extension cord in (NES Classic default controller cord length is so short).

Still kinda more fair than a lot of NES games though. Castlevania 3 is probably the tougher game overall I'd say.

I can beat 1 without game overs no prob now, but it took me ages to get through some levels of 3.

Yeah, I feel like on the whole 3 has a lot more tough levels

But I feel like Stage 6 on CV1 may be tougher than any stage from CV3

Though if you've played CV1 anywhere remotely close to as much as CV3 you have way more practice at CV1 stage 6 than any level in CV3. And I guess being able to continue directly at the boss means you can effectively split stage 6 into stage 6-1 and 6-2, and stage 6-3 separately, neither of which individually would be tougher than the tougher CV3 stages.
