Zelda will not beat Solid Snake. The only chars left who can take Snake are Sephiroth and whoever wins between Link and Cloud. I am surprised Zelda is winning, period.

The seeding is pretty bad in this whole thing. There are 1, 2 and 3 seeds I've never even heard of while characters like Sub Zero, Gordon Freeman, and Aeris are 10 or worse seeds. Why is Cloud not the 2 seed? Samus will not beat either Link or Cloud, so where was the logic there?

Okay, that's it.

We should officially have a term called "FFPF" (Final Fantasy Protagonist Factor).

It is characterized by the main characters of their respective games have some kind of underperformance or for "choking" badly against stiff competition.

My takeaways

1. Come on Geralt!
2. Very surprised to see Aeris winning convincingly so far.
3. All three women winning their matches so far today, in Round 3. Good year for female characters overall, it seems to me.
4. Seriously regretting my Auron > Zelda pick in loser's bracket right now.

For the record, I don't buy that Sephiroth still isn't the bottom of the Noble Nine. His performance against Captain Falcon was okay.

Because that would require a drop of epic proportions to go from number 2 just behind Link to being at the bottom of the Noble Nine.

Zelda would only really be capable of beating the bottom of the Noble Nine (Sonic, Mega Man, maybe Sephiroth depending on how weak he's gotten). I have no idea where Crono might be this year.

We haven't even seen Crono in action yet, so let's not jump to any conclusions on his potential strength before he has his first match this. Crono's match against Kirby/Bowser will give us an idea as to whether he can beat Cloud.

Honestly, I have no words for this. I can't even feel angry. I just feel like I've lost something very valuable because the contests are probably not for me anymore. I feel so, so disconnected from this Squall/Zelda result. I don't even know what to do with this. I'm just...numb. Has it ever happened to you guys before? To be fair The Boss looks waaaaay better after Zelda just annihilating Squall like this. And if I told you pre-contest, "Big Boss gets 49% on Sora" you would probably go "yep sounds right to me". So I think MGS looking bad is not yet certain.
