As usual, they saved the category for last. This was the teen tournament and only the guy had any familiarity, it seemed. The games were:

$200 Batman: Arkham Knight
$400 The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
$600 Call of Duty: Black Ops
$800 Red Dead Dedemption
$1000 Deus Ex

The last two clues were triple stumpers. Makes sense, I thought the $1000 one especially was a bit of a deep cut.
This game is infamous for its fans complaining about it not winning by enough in a contest.
Courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality.
I'm looking at the questions now on j-archive and it looks like they largely took my advice on how to word the questions to make them possible for the contestants to answer! the last time they did this category the questions were REALLY BAD and only answerable by knowledgeable gamers

The Deus Ex question is still too hard though, "a latin name" is not enough of a clue if you don't know about Deus Ex. The Red Dead Redemption triple stumper was fine though
Especially since the sequel has been all over tv lately.
no
How the fuck, those are so easy.

I would have gotten the second one wrong. I definitely would have said "Zelda" by accident instead of "The Legend of Zelda".
This was not the best year for my bracket.
Congrats to BK_Sheikah00 for winning the BYIG Guru Contest!

No, you would be given credit for that
Are they more lenient than during Final Jeopardy? It seems like the exact same issue from here:

hm

I guess you wouldn't get credit then, but that seems really weird
Generally they're more lenient in the first round than Double Jeopardy, then very strict in Final Jeopardy. At worst you'd get Alex going "ehhh" and looking to the scorers as the whether they'll take it, giving you time to correct yourself.
Lurker extraordinaire
Jeopardy has always been absurdly strict with its rules on those sorts of things. Like mispronunciations of answers when people very obviously knew what they were talking about have been counted incorrect.

so yeah, unless they've gotten more lenient, "Zelda" would 100% be counted wrong. it's dumb

Oh damn, sad I missed yesterday, watched today and had a Star Wars Prequel Trilogy thing. Only one question though.
I'll just go back to gifs. Not like the winner was gonna click my topic.

this is what I would expect to see happen

You wouldn't get an immediate "incorrect" from Trebek when saying "Zelda" in the first two rounds, you'd either get a hesitant pause with time to correct yourself, or a "we'll accept that"
You better be damn sure you're accurate during Final. Though they are (rightfully) lenient on misspellings that don't affect pronunciation.
You're better off spelling it right in final jeopardy
It actually makes sense that they wouldn't accept Zelda in final jeopardy - it's possible that they knew Zelda Fitzgerald but did not know the name of the video game, and the question was quite clear to give the name of the game, not the character (even though "Zelda" is quite frequently the colloquial name for the game/series).
Do you have the answers?

That question is worded strangely, it led them (and myself) to believe that it was asking for the Name of the princess rather then the name of the series.

I don't think it's worded strangely, that's a pretty standard Jeopardy question. Always look for the word "this," in this case, "this game." The question is asking for a game.
wowoweewow those video game ones were easy, they got stumped on Red Dead????
Lord have mercy on my soul, I've had a good run but I can't run anymore. Just put me down

Red Dead Redemption is not necessarily common knowledge if you're not plugged into the hobby
I feel like Jeopardy questions are often actually easy if you're brushed up on the subject matter. it's just they can and do span any possible subject matter and like, who the fuck knows that much about that many different things

I dunno Red Dead Redemption is pretty fuckin mainstream I feel, especially on a TEEN Jeopardy. Deus Ex yea that's fine to mess up.

I did not know the Deus Ex one. I liked the clues from last time there was a topic about this, where they asked about Joust.

I also think they were right to not accept just "Zelda" for final jeopardy. It clearly says this game in the clue.
