Unfortunately I'm part of this group. I got stuck on the boss you fight right outside Midgar on Disc 2.

I just beat them for the first time last year for the platinum trophy on PS4, but I don't really do much optional/post-game stuff unless there are trophies for it

I beat the one under the ocean, but don't recall ever trying the other one
Then again I only played FF7 once probably around 13 years ago or so so my memory is a little fuzzy on it

You will be shocked to know how many people stop playing a game when they finish the story mode and don't care about post-game at all

Maybe cause I beat the game once in 1997, long before I discovered this site? And I found the game to be uninspired trash and had no desire to replay it and do a 100% complete run. Needless to say, I sold the game shortly after beating it and never looked back until everyone here decided it was the best thing since sliced bread since it was their first.

I beat the game once, and didn't like it enough to care about full completion.

You can't really expect everyone to 100% every game, no matter how much they like it.

i understand if you hate final fantasy vii, the greatest game of all time and the greatest achievement in the history of art, that you may have only completed the game to 100% once. but anything less than that i just don't see the reason for.

personally i'm on once per year, i am a moderate fan
Advokaiser makes me feel eternal. All this pain is an illusion.
Once per year does not make you a "moderate fan," lol. A moderate fan would have finished the game at most twice. Unless you only started playing the game two years ago, at which point I have to ask what you were doing with the other 21 years since its release.

Read that as "never beat the Wilpons", thanks @WiggumFan267
Advokaiser picked Cloud in Guru and rained on my bracket.
At least I finished 20th overall!
My take is neither gives anything important enough to make it worth bothering with them. FF7 is a very easy game to break and walk right over.

I found them to be pretty unrewarding since they're like impossible without a guide, but with one it was just a patience test.
i kind of view it as the endgoal of the game now. basically optimising for those two fights is on my mind from the beginning of the game - beating them is the reward!
Advokaiser makes me feel eternal. All this pain is an illusion.
I'm almost 100% sure I beat them both in a no materia game. I dont recall how I did it. I used to do tons of challenge runs for the game and use all the material combos. But this was like almost 20 years ago now.

That said I did have to look up how to beat ruby the first time.
Ruby is pretty ridiculous conceptually. Then you get to FFX and the whole optional side is balanced around ridiculous. Not sure X is actually as hard though.

I've only ever finished FF7 once and couldn't be bothered with all that extra stuff. Did beat Omega Weapon in 8 though with blind luck.

I never do post game anymore. Especially if the game was 80 hours plus.

But back in the day when FF7 came out? Hell yeah I did all the post game activities. Beat all weapons.
Advokaiser came, saw, conquered.
I did my playthrough before I found GameFAQs, and then since finding GameFAQs I haven't made it past Disc 1.
Change is weird.

Without knowing anything about the VII Weapons, FFX is definitely easier. I beat that ultimate boss doing literally no additional prep work. Just went in with some end-game equipment and it was cake.

I read how to beat them on the FAQs and thought, okay, cool, I know how it's done now. It didn't feel worth the time of actually going and doing it, so I haven't bothered.

Ruby is in the Desert-- it's that random little red thing by the Golden Saucer that woe be to you if you bump into it early.

you are... definitely not talking about penance, lol. penance is way harder than anything in ff7

you beat ff7 weapons easily enough by being well equipped and spending the whole game prepping for them. you beat penance by spending ~80 hours stat maxing

I beat emerald weapon, but I think my sister finally took down ruby when I wasn't there.

We were generally under leveled, so I'm not sure how she did it

Also, I will never 100% complete any "blue magic" style collection, and ff7's in particular was finicky
You did indeed stab me in the back. However, you are only level one, whilst I am level 50. That means I should remain uninjured.
