A few hours in and I'm loving it. It does such a good job of making the solar system feel mysterious and worth exploring, while condensing them down in a way that makes sense.

I also just love that I can see that the little bits of knowledge I've been getting are clearly adding up to something , but it's still not clear to me what that something is. It feels like I'm chipping away at a mystery rather than immediately being able to guess what's going on.
I envy you.

What was the first planet you went to?
Fantastic game

Probably the 2nd most profound experience Ive had with gaming. 1st being Journey.

Oooh masterpiece I'd say.

Although personally I thought a couple puzzles were too hard. Take out the harder puzzles IMO. Don't need 'em.

Also I like how it's basically a Metroid Prime game minus the combat. Platforming, outer space, scanning writings from an old civilization, lonely atmosphere, the tools are kinda like visors...the list goes on.

Goty 2019 and maybe gotd. I can't wait until I've forgotten it enough to replay it.

Wonderful game, GOTY 2019 for me. Somehow the solar system manages to feel vast and isolated while also intimate and connected at the same time. The only collectible being knowledge is so cool, exploration felt so rewarding. Never played anything like it before.

First planet was technically Ash Twin, but I quickly jumped over to Ember Twin because I didn't see anything to do there initially.

I've given Outer Wilds a few chances now and I just can't get into it. I love the time loop concept but most of the puzzles I've encountered were either too obtuse or too frustrating. The number of times I've been separated from my spaceship on Giant's Deep and needed to wait fifteen minutes to die and start over really turned me off of the game.

Why not just go to the menu and restart the loop?
All the stars in the sky are waiting for you.
You have to learn about that ability, you dont just have it at the start. What you could do though is use all your jet pack propulsion to fly as high as possible in the air and then land hard and die, or just use up all your propulsion and then use up all your oxygen as propulsion
I've been playing since May 30th...2019 and still haven't beaten it. I'm pretty sure that I have done everything currently available to me except following the distress signal on Dark Bramble . I have been stuck on that part for an eternity.

Oh yeah you often have to kill yourself. But there's always easy ways to do that.

This kind of passive game does have a big risk of the player missing some key elements and getting overly frustrated. It's amazing how well they polished that out, but it's def still there. I think it's worth it to make the game possible.

Love this game. Went to do a one-off video in it, since it was new and on Gamepass, and decided after half an hour that I was going to play the whole thing.

I didn't realise for the first hour or so that translated runes have multiple pages, so that was confusing.

Also, wasn't until after I finished the game that I was told you can rest at campfires to pass time . Would have saved me a lot of time during those last few attempts on the ending.

Trying to puzzle out what to do next since there's clearly something I'm missing.

Got down to core of Giant's Deep, which was super satisfying.

Still need to find The Vessel and Escape Pod 3, which are supposed to be on Dark Bramble. Tried following the red light, but that just lead to a weird red blob thing that I couldn't figure out what to do with. Feldspar isn't really helpful here.
Very small hint: Isn't there a tool you can use to help you find one of those two things?

Oh right. I'm a dummy. At least I figured out how to get into the inside of The Interloper in the meantime
Man, finding out what happened to everyone is pretty sad. Especially after seeing the recurring question of "What if the signal wasn't meant for us ?"

That part was sad af after getting to know all the characters

Brittle Hollow is easily my least-favorite planet. It's still really cool, but fuck, it is SO frustrating.

Did the Tower of Quantum Trials. This game is rad.
I enjoyed it, but its incredibly overrated.

You think its 8.6/10 average from reviews is way too high?

Yeah

edit: I mean I think scores in general are silly, but the praise in general has been way too...generous.

Its good, fun, scary, but not a life changing experience like so many make it out to be

Spoilers, I guess, in case anyone who hasn't played is reading this

Areas that I still need to investigate:

-I landed on the Quantum Moon, but I can't get to the North Pole without leaving the atmosphere and resetting my position. I also found a tower there to move the moon, but I wasn't able to leave the tower after going to the "sixth location"

-The Tower of Quantum Knowledge and the Tower Shard-- I have a feeling the two are linked and the Tower Shard is key to getting in...but I haven't figured out how that would work yet.

-Still haven't found a way to get to the Black Hole Forge, which is also on Brittle Hollow

-I'm missing something in The Vessel. I suspect I'm supposed to enter the coordinate symbols I found somewhere else but I wasn't able to access my screenshot at the time.

-I was able to change where power was going in the High Energy Lab on Ember Twin, but I have no idea what actually changed when I did that.

-I still haven't found anything of note about Hollow's Lantern, which feels a bit strange given it has space on the map.
I think the Black Hole Forge was the last thing I figured out before doing the ending. It being on Brittle Hollow and Brittle Hollow being frustrating to figure out was a big part of it.

Figuring out the Quantum Moon stuff was fun.

I had to get a hint at the very last puzzle because I was doing the right thing but my timing was wrong.

No, the spoiler part
Hmm, finally figured out I could warp to Black Hole Forge via tower on Ash Twin only to find nothing to do there except leave.

I still haven't found the purpose of diverting the power from the High Energy Lab. There's a little window I can open and close and launch a probe in. I expected some quantum stuff, but opening and closing the little window doesn't seem to change anything.
There's something you could do with that window at the High Energy Lab, but it's not story related. I don't want to explain more or it would ruin it.

Shows how much of an impact this game had that I can still remember the solutions to these a year later.

Do you want any tips for both or happy to just figure it out, Gin?

I wouldn't mind a nudge in the right direction!

Went back to the vessel and noticed the warp core this time. Tried putting it back and placing the coordinates I found earlier into the ship but nothing happened. Also tried flipping/reversing them just in case.

My guess with the warp core is that it goes back to one of two solutions that a Nomai wrote aboutfor the Ash Twin project-- retrieving the old warp core vs creating a new one.

If manufacturing a new one is an option then that's the one I want because fuck dealing with those anglerfish more than I have to.
Dis gonna get good

Alright, for the Black Hole Forge go explore the Hanging City again first.

For the High Energy Lab, re-read some of the notes about power.

Thanks for the hint Jackman-- I don't know how I missed that control room, especially given I went through that area multiple times.

I have to say, the hints about having a few seconds' window and the twins counting as a single celestial body for alignment were genius. It was just the right amount of information to figure out what I needed to do.

The fact that I can remove the core but it will depower the Ash Twin Project makes me nervous. My instinct is to take it to the ship in Dark Bramble and initiate a warp, but if the Ash Twin project is depowered...doesn't that mean I die for real if I mess up?

I also still have no idea how the Quantum Moon fits into all this...

Sorta spoilers: That is correct.

A bit more in-depth spoilers: The game will still let you reload your previous save if you die, though.
