Does complete silence have a sound to you?

Board 8

This isn't necessarily about tinnitus, or maybe it is. But when you are in a totally quiet environment--no electronics that are humming, no air units that are blowing, no nature sounds, no city noises, etc--does the absolute silence have a sound to you? Or perhaps does your mind play a trick on itself where it imagines something to fill the void even if it's not an actual condition?

Does an almost deafening sound fill in the total silence, something that almost sounds overwhelmingly loud, and yet if you barely tap a table, the new noise sounds clear as day and completely removes the loud sound of "silence"?

I guess just asking if you actually hear nothing at all, or if any kind of noise fills in your perception.
Bells, bells, bells!
