I feel like a lot of people here don't realize the first book is separated into 3 books and this film ends relatively where the 1st book ends. The trilogy will likely line up with this separation.

Nevermind it looks like they are doing it in 2 parts not 3.

Just watched it and I'd honestly have to watch it again in a home setting to say whether I liked it or not. The music and sound effects were deafening to the point of being distracting and hurting my ears. Whilst half the time the talking was whisper quiet and I couldn't hear a damn thing they said. I don't know if it's a production thing or the particular cinema I watched it at
There are definitely some issues with the sound mixing, but your description of your experience makes it sound like that theater was partially at fault too.
It's like paying for bubble wrap. -transience on Final Fantasy: All the Bravest
People rag on shitty CGI, but I feel like sound mixing is the movie production field that consistently screws up the most. Whisper-quiet dialogue followed by super loud music/sound effects is both inexcusable and very common.

Yep, and it's why I've taken to watching movies with the subtitles on! Almost never have to worry about missing dialogue.

I went to Suicide Squad in Imax a few months ago, my first time going to Imax in years. The sheer aural assault made me resolve never to go to a movie in Imax again. Loud movies suck.

100%, and one of the reasons I'm also in the "mandatory subtitles" club. There's something so uniquely annoying/frustrating about trying to love a clearly good movie but getting pissed off because you can barely hear the characters talking.
Just got back from watching Dune in theater, it was great. Theater was pretty much empty. Movie was fantastic, my one beef is the needless diversity hire decision to make Kynes a black woman, which makes absolutely no sense. At this point I guess I have to just accept that Hollywood will always spit on source material in order to score woke brownie points, while doing absolutely nothing to address the actual problems facing women and minorities. But this gives idiots on Twitter a reason to like the movie that doesn't involve having to pay attention to or appreciate the plot, acting and production, so I can see why they do it.

Beautifully shot movie though, and they handled the source material well for the most part

Read the books. Third and fourth ones are best.

Just saw this. Loved it.
Now I wanna go home and play Dune II on PC.

The PC game has aged poorly... but is still magnificent!
Hotkeys were never been so important.

Just saw finally, last minute. Excellent.

It's wild, the movie is long and moves at a slow pace, but is so engaging that it just flies by. I've watched hour and a half long movies that felt longer than this to sit through.
