It might work out if we did best of 3s until either winner's/loser's or grand finals or something. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this format would be one additional set of concurrent matches compared to last time.
Edit: I might have misunderstood the format, but after re-reading, this might be the same number of concurrent matches as last time if we're jumping straight to winner's finals from groups.

So I was thinking, two groups of 4. Everyone plays each other in their own group once. I think making it best of 3 would probably be best until we get to the bracket.
I want the top two to advance into winners, and the 2nd and 3rd place to go to loser's. 4th places are both eliminated.
And from there we just do a normal tournament best of 5.
