I remember for Gen VII that we also ranked the Alolan forms in a separate list. So presumably we'll want to do the same for a separate Galarian/Hisuian list. We also ranked Megas for Gen VI, but I imagine there's a lot less interest in ranking Gigantamax, lol.

Sword/Shield was quite the step down for the series, so I didn't care that this wasn't a thing for so long. But I'll still submit a list and put the results on the Wiki if people want to rank Gen 8.

Sw/Sh DLC added a handful of legendaries and some new Galarian forms (and Gigantamaxes if we care about that).

Arceus had a slew of Hisuian forms, some new evolutions, and a new legendary.

Looking up the wiki, I see the Alolan forms were actually just included with the new Pokemon for Gen VII. I remembered wrong.

Those two were first introduced through Pokemon Go before making an appearance in a mainline game. I'll let you hand down the verdict on whether we'll include Meltan and Melmetal.

Not at all fussed about Hisuian and Galarian stuff being included. Imo they would be considered if we were to ever do the old rankings again (lol). So take Voltorb-H into account if we did Gen 1 again, etc

We included Alolan Forms when we did the Gen 7 rankings, so it only makes sense to continue that established precedent by including any regional variant forms when doing a ranking project for later generations. Which means including Galarian and Hisuian Forms here.
