I gotta disagree, so far I think all MCU shows have been pretty slow on their first episodes and this one really had me everywhere soon as Steven's consciousness starts cutting out, plus Arthur and his cult had a pretty fast introduction for his power and how far spread his followers are

maybe slow paced isn't what I really meant. But for some reason I felt less hooked than every other series thus far, likely due to him being the first non-avengers related show so it isn't like there is any prior attachment to the character that I have started every other show with.

Moon Knight premiere was good. I was surprised how quickly they brought in the antagonist guy and were all in on showing how all the mystical Egyptian stuff is real. It's an interesting take that it's both an origin story but the Mark/Moon Knight side of the character is already established.

Watched the first episode last night and I found it very intruiging. The fact that the main character also has no idea what's going on is a pretty interesting way to start the series.

Also I had no idea that Morbius was out already, I still need to watch Venom 2 too.

Just watched this last night.

I had to do a double take when I saw the runtime, was very short and it definitely felt short. Smaller scope than the first movie but I thought the first movie was a mess, so it was an improvement in that respect.

Carnage getting eaten is pretty disappointing though, it would be cool if he stuck around a bit more . The mid-credits scene is by far the hypest part of the movie though, I've seen No Way Home so I knew what was coming but I can only imagine the hype in theatres when that was shown .

Shuma-Gorath is a Kull character and I believe Orion has the rights to Kull, but I'm not sure who owns Orion

The actual depiction of Shuma being a green tentacle monster with one eye belongs to Marvel but the name doesn't, hence Gargantos, which is a name for a generic monster in a handful of old comics.

It's a Universal Frankenstein scenario to some extent. I'm sure Marvel COULD have afforded the rights to license the name but maybe they felt it wasn't worth it as it would just make a few select nerds very happy.

Shuma is the nichest of niche; he only is relevant at all because of his Capcom game appearances which saved him from relative obscurity. Only diehard Dr. Strange or Conan fans would have known Shuma existed without the games.

Word is that it actually is Shuma but theyre calling him Gargantos because of some issue with the name. Basically its the Shuma character with Gargantoss name, not the Gargantos character.

Really liking Arthur Harrow, dude already knows so much and I wasn't expecting him to be Khonshu's previous avatar - then lmao when he's straight-up calling what Khonshu is saying to Steven.

Steven's summoning his own suit was hilarious, it's still hard to imagine him actually being useful though but at least now we're getting the perspective of Marc in control, works well that this is also brought by Steven learning how to stay conscious the way Marc does and maybe he'll learn something. When we saw the Mr. Knight suit in the trailers I wasn't expecting it to be Steven's suit... makes me think we're not getting another personality though.

*edit* although A+ Steven moment when he calls out Arthur being pro child killing lmao

I'm really not someone that pays any notice of cgi quality unless it's like notably great or CW The Flash. I did pause and rewind though when it came to Marc fighting the Jackal across the rooftops I couldn't always follow, but I did enjoy the way Steven's eyes started to glow as Marc took control, plus how Marc takes his Batarangs off his chest by like pulling duplicates as the chest insignia remains still.

I think this episode remained pretty consistent quality with the last, so not like a big step up the way Loki ep2 was, nor did it really drag like Hawkeye ep2.

I don't normally notice cgi either. Normally when I see people complain about it I'm never really sure what they mean, but this episode felt noticeably bad to me. Other than that I really enjoyed the episode, hell the cgi didn't even really ruin anything, it was just a little jarring for me.

Not a fair comparison. I agree the CGI is fine comparatively to lesser projects, I just dont think it was very good for the MCU.

Yeah I think the complaints about the cgi are way overblown. Compare it to any TV show and it's almost guaranteed to be better. It's not as good as the movies because of course it isn't and that shouldn't be expected. I thought Konshu in particular looked awesome in this episode.
