Also wish I had known Dancer was an unlockable class later on then I would have bothered to get Dorothea leveled up in the thief line. Didn't take long to get her there, though, just went to the record keeper for a few battles.

My current team is:
Shez (Asura/Falcon)
Byleth (Holy Knight/ Enlightened One )
Edelgard (Emperor)
Hubert (Dark Bishop)

Alternates:
Ferdinand (Holy/Dark Knight)
Bernadetta (Bow Knight)
Petra (Trickster)
Dorothea (Gremory/Dancer)

Everyone else I've recruited I've used for a mission or two, with Hapi and Jeralt probably getting the most run.

OK Casper is like....borderline.

But even, say, Lindhart is usually boring, but I always look forward to him casually professing his destined love with no passion whatsoever to every female unit he can A Rank in both games before either walking away or falling asleep.

And if course a lot of it is that these two games have some of the most consistently high quality voice acting of any English dub I've ever heard, which considering the staggering cast size is astounding.

Caspar has consistently great supports in Three Houses. Probably the best all-around quality for support conversations out of any of the characters I used, with the exception of maybe Felix.

Watching a Dorothea Support and just reminded what a devastating degredatiom in character design both timeskip versions of her are.

I know they're trying to Manuelaize her, but that makes it worse.

I know you're being hyperbolic but Dorothea is like, one of the actual best-written characters in Three Houses. The shortlist off the top of my head is Felix, Dorothea, Caspar. Considered throwing Golden Deer a bone by mentioning someone from their group, but I double-checked and nah I'm good.

I mean of the class members not including the house leaders, I'd say BE has 6 characters I like, BL has 4, and GD has 2.

I do not include the House leaders because I love them so very very much and wish there was one non-Ashen Wolves route where they could all be friends and have tea together.

Felix is the best and Dorothea is up there (Petra is best girl but Dorothea is an honorable mention). Caspar I'm more ambivalent on, but he's fine.

For me, Dorothea was the character I was most hyped for prerelease, and it seems I was on point before the timeskip. THen there was the one two punch of the Lil' Manuela aesthetic change (I do not like anything about Manuela...at all) and in Three Houses original like half of her post-skip dialogue and support was just..."war is so sad...boo war...if only there was no war". This is basically non-existent in Hopes, thankfully.

It was like her character had just dried up in every way that mattered to me. Probably wouldn't have hit so much of expectations weren't so high.

Edelgard, Hubert, and Bernie were there to catch me for that initial Eagles playthrough at least, and post time skip Ferdinand sucked up all of Dorothea's good vibes into his body like some kind of charisma vampire.

Uh... are we playing the same game? Because like every scene with her in the group setting is "war is so sad... boo war... if only there was no war" and a lot of the supports I'm getting are saying the same.

Huh, fun factoid for one of the renown unlockable characters I guess?

I guess Arval's gender is tied to Shez' because I couldn't unlock the Pegasus rider class when playing Male Shez in Lion's, but just got a few chapters into Deer as female Shez again and now they can unlock it. I just assumed they were male but I guess they're meant to be gender neutral.

Just finished the first chapter of part 2. Edelgard route. Question for people since I want to talk about it:

I went ahead and recruited Byleth and Jeralt. Always gotta recruit. It's a compulsion.

But I went back because I wanted to see how things went if I didn't. And, I mean, getting a cutscene and a lot more drama... I feel like that's the better path to go?

I mean, I want Byleth, but... Is the story going to be much better if I don't recruit them? Is it more worth it to go with the save file where Jeralt and Randolph die? I'm just worried about missing out of so much of the story because it's the fanfiction route or something.

Will I be disappointed going with Byleth? Or is the story going to be different enough that it won't make much a difference? Or same enough that it won't make much a difference?

There is no tangible benefit to not recruiting. You get one different cutscene but lose a couple secret chapters.

There's one Paralog you can do if you don't recruit and have unlocked a NG+ character. Can't do it outside of NG+ so there's absolutely no reason not to recruit on a first playthrough.

If you want to do a route in NG+ where you don't recruit them, it will optimally be Lions, because they're part of a Deer exclusive parogue.

Done. 130 hours all in.

Didn't use any skip whistles on playthrough 2, but used them on every single territory didn't have an unlock challenge in playthrough 3, cut it all down to about 20ish hours.

I could start another Eagles playthrough for all the supports I missed in it, but I'll wait to see if there's DLC.
