Hello! Ermine here!

I'm interested in finding more Video Game Music that I would super enjoy, but since I'm INCREDIBLY picky, it's makes it very difficult to do so. I know there are a lot of VGM fans on here so I thought I would enlist YOUR help!

If you are able to recommend me a track/song that rates 9/10 or higher for me that I HAVE NOT heard before, then you'll get a prize! I was thinking like paypal 5 bucks kind of thing, but I dunno if something like that is breaking ToS or anything lol.

You are only able to suggest 1 song/track at a time until I've ranked it, and then you can try again.

"Wow, only a 9/10? That doesn't sound that difficult!"

No seriously, it will be. I am INCREDIBLY picky when it comes to VGM, and most tracks are only like a 4/10 or 5/10 for me.

"But how will I know what to recommend?"

I'll give you a few songs as examples that rank 9/10 or higher for me! (I enjoy minor things with strong melodies and harmonics). I like harpsicords.

As I have played through all of Umineko, I have definitely heard this song... a LOT. It plays a DAMN TON. I get why people enjoy it but it's a bit too on the hopeful and cheery side for my tastes.

I think the difference I enjoy between Hope and Far is that Far just has these harmonies going on in the background that compliment the main melody so much. I normally don't like happy music TOO much, but when it's done right in a way I like, it can be super high.

Snowy Rail Thing!

I haven't heard this one before. There's a few bits in this that hold it back for me, but it has a few pretty cool parts. 0:41 in particular is really nice.

Well, it definitely gives the vibes of flight. But it's not my thing. The percussion is too in the way and I'm just not a fan of the melody.

So I will say that I enjoy a lot of the instruments used in this... but without any real melody to speak of, it's just something that would be kind of nice to listen to if I was out in the forest, walking around.

Do you tend to rate songs highly your first time hearing them...?

I've never really gotten into the "VGM scene" because for me I only start to like a song after hearing it multiple times in-game - I need time to develop an attachment. I'm not sure any of my current 9/10 or 10/10 songs would even have made an impact on me if I heard them for the first time randomly from a youtube link.

I don't, but I've noticed this of myself. So if someone posts something that might be like a 7.5-8.5 range, I'm going to give it like 5-10 listens to see if it catches on more. Reason I say this is that Chocolate Missile started out as like a 7.5-8 for me. And after listening to it like 100 times, it's definitely in the 9-9.5 range lol

And I agree with that other sentiment as well. Sometimes a song just hits harder in game because of what's happening in the story or with the characters, etc. That for sure has an impact that's hard to just drop from your mind.

Neuchatel in particular is like... damn, the scene and story to go along with it compliments it so well.

Anyways, songs like these are a bit risky when they slowly introduce new elements each phrase. If I'm not into it at the start, I'm not likely going to give it the time of day. But this one has a catchy beat and had me hooked! I was wondering if it was just going to keep doing that, but it does lead into 1:19... which... is a slight let down. I really wanted this part to go harder. It almost feels too simple/basic there? Or just doesn't quite do what I want it to. Not that that part is bad, but as I'm already giving it decent praise, I have expectations for this part to really wow me, and it just doesn't.

Very cool though!
