I actually don't have a problem with most of the other things you listed there, but I don't think the role is that useless. It is definitely a weak scanner, but it could still verify people's claims.

Scum Ulti wouldn't go this hard to defend scum ben unless they were in a "one more mislynch and we win" kind of deal - which they obviously are not.
Scum Ulti might go this hard to defend town Ben, in the way that sbell hard cleared Sultan.
Scum ben would have had to get extraordinarily lucky to get town Ulti to go along with this.
So i think they're either town/ town or Ulti is scum and Ben is town. Either way, Ben is town for me.
