No, we're not done with these topics just yet.

Super Mario Kart is one of the worst Mario Kart games in the series, and possibly even a candidate for one of the most overrated nintendo games in history.

The "2" games are typically the worst. SMB2 is lame. SMW2(YI) is lame. SMG2 is lame.

Huh. I cant think of any. I think they are a legacy of very good to great games that all do different things pretty well.

Sunshine would have been great if it wasnt buggy as hell isnt a hot take

Not that hot but:

Super Mario 64 is the second worst 3D Mario ahead of only Sunshine

Yoshis Island is better than Super Mario World, but it isnt really a Super Mario game

Super Mario Bros. 3 is a great game but fairly mid-tier for the franchise

The New Super Mario Bros. games are generally in line with the originals in quality

The Super Mario Bros movie will do so well that it boosts the series' popularity even further and convinces Nintendo to create an entire Nintendo Universe of movies that climaxes with a Super Smash Bros. Movie.

I don't think I have any truly hot takes.

Super Mario Sunshine is an excellent game.

Super Mario 64 has aged terribly (it was perhaps the best game ever when it came out though ).

Mario Kart 64 is in the bottom half of the Karts.

Galaxy is bad.

SMB3 is good but put on way too high a pedestal.

Super Mario Sunshine is the best one.

Super Mario Galaxy is my least favorite game I've played that I can remember.
I didn't do guru this year but azuarc can be in my sig anyways.

Mario 64 didn't age poorly, it was just never great. Banjo Kazooie did it better just two years later.
Double Dash is the best Mario Kart
Mario Supersluggers is the best Mario Sports game (and it's a damn shame we haven't got another one)

MK8 is just an incomprehensible mess of chaos, confusing maps, and fast visuals that should have been branded as an F-Zero game. (I have obviously not played a lot of MK8 to learn it.)
Only the exceptions can be exceptional.

Having to hold a button to run is a major design flaw in 2D Mario games and is the sole reason none of them are top tier platfomers.

Mario Kart, as well as Mario Party, are bad series. Mario Kart in particular is a really bad series that has had multiple other games take it's crown but because it's not filled with Mario characters they are ignored.

SMB1 is the second best 2D Mario game.

  • Mario Golf is the only sports spinoff series worth playing.
  • The Super Mario Bros. Super Show is good, and is still the best interpretation of Princess Peach Toadstool we've ever gotten in any medium.
  • Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart Double Dash are the only two games in the series that still hold up.
  • We don't need any more Paper Mario, Mario + Rabbids, Mario Party, or Mario Olympic Games games.
  • The only reason any person could consider Super Mario World to be better than SMB3 is the ease of replaying levels. SMB3 is superior in every other way, including visual style.

Luigi's Mansion 3 is about the definition of "perfectly average game". I felt like I was going through the motions the entire time I was playing it.

Galaxy 2 is nowhere near as good as Galaxy
Mario 64 aged badly and is best left in nostalgia
Probably not a hot take, but Luigi > Mario and Ill always play as Luigi over Mario if the option exists even when hes just a palette swap in old stuff.

Perhaps. Paper Mario was at least originally called Super Mario RPG2

Every Mario Kart game before 8 has been pretty mid at best, and "F-Zero if it were trash" at worst. Wii's kinda fun to break, though.

As an extension, Mario Kart Tour, through being a weird Tony Hawk-like combo game instead of a Mario Kart game, is pretty good.

Mario Party 2 was the best Mario game on the Nintendo 64.

Wario Land 3 is the least fun entry with "Wario Land" in the name.

Rabbid Peach is the best Mario character introduced or reintroduced in the past 15 years.
