What is the most "expensive" thing you own?

I didnt know how to word this, but I dont mean pure cash price, because obviously its going to be a house or car every time (heck, it still may be).

Basically, whats something that you can get by cheaply, but you went for an expensive option?

For example, id been using a very cheap desk I built myself for years, total materials cost <$100, and this weekend I bought a $1100 one.

So most expensive non-auto, non-property I own?

Hm. I guess my bed? ~$4k. Totally worth it. Incredible investment.
Give 'em hell Ukraine.
Spent about $3k on my PC. Other than that idk, maybe my $2.5k TV stand, which costs about as much as the TV that sits upon it.

I more mean like most expensive relative to how cheap you can get it. Like, what did you splurge on getting a better version of the most.

Your $4k bed definitely qualifies

Probably like a lot of people here it's my computer. Don't really play too many high end games but still spent around 2k building it.
Yawn
Mmm, stained glass?

Bedroom furniture set, dropped a few thousand on it instead of vacationing back when my roommate moved out.

I feel like my speaker system of a couple thousand grands (...once I get the last few pieces). Which, I feel like is low end for a speaker system but I also imagine most people don't bother with one?

I'll ignore necessities like furniture, and my computer because it's basically a necessity too.

It might be one of my anime figures. I could've gotten a cheap Emilia, but instead I splurged on a relatively expensive one, around $250.

I have a bunch of hobbies and collections that add up to way more than that, but it's likely the most expensive individual item.

Anime figure collection? Probably $3k worth.

Whats worth more today, a used PS4 or a used Earthbound cartridge

EDIT: Wow the answer is Earthbound by a wide margin

Hm. Probably a Ninja Foodi indoor grill. I could have gotten a regular cheap air fryer but opted for the grill that does a bunch of other stuff outside of air frying. Even then I got it during a black Friday sale lol.

Oh I know you said no cars but I will go to a car dealership to get new tires cause I know they will have the type of tire I need with no hassle rather than go through the much cheaper alternatives. I'll do this for car checkups and repairs as well.

Outside of that...probably like others have said, anime figures and collectibles.
I guess it's my bicycle. I spent about $1000 or so for a new one a few years ago, when I already had a cheaper one that I bought used.

My laptop was like $2500 or something, probably that?
Congrats to azuarc , GotD2 Guru champ!
uhhhhh I splurged on my bed at like $400 (which was expensive compared to my previous $50 used bed and the air mattress I slept on before that)

the most expensive thing I own other than my car is my PS5
Khal Kirby , warlord of the Super Star Khalasar

Hmm, this is tricky. I go for higher end stuff pretty often but even then it's only like, the $50-100 option instead of the $20-40 option. I usually do pretty well getting things on sale too.

I have a couple special editions of video games where I could have just gotten the digital version for like $6 but paid $100 instead, so maybe those.
Congrats to BKSheikah , who knows more about years than anyone else.
Probably my monitor, I'm a sucker for a good display.

If we're thinking of it purely as a ratio, probably something like my ember mug, bidet, or trashcan.

If it's purely based on price, probably some furniture or appliance.

Phrases like this are why "splurge" always sounds like a silly word.
Bells, bells, bells!
2000$ on my PC so probably that

I have a $100 wallet (it has neat button to reveal all my credit cards) and a $300 backpack (super durable and 8 million pockets) so probably one of those.
No problem!
This is a cute and pop genocide of love!
That's hard to say. I think my most expensive items all ran at around $500 (laptop, PS5, mattress), none of which are top of the line. Of those, the one that required the most additional discretionary spending was the mattress; it's a twin XL from a local company, something in their midrange line. Certainly a step up from the basic models.

I paid about $1500 for the parts to build my PC, so I think that's it

I don't own a house or car so I'm pretty sure it's the most expensive thing I own period

My bed was $1300 or so. My PC in 2015 was $1100 but I upgraded parts since then.

My nice recliner doesn't count since my parents just gave that to me when they moved.

Relative to the market, this isn't a splurge, but the fact that I simply have a treadmill counts as an expensive splurge for me. It was still well over a grand (MSRP $1800 but I paid much less) so it isn't like I bought some discount Sunny Fitness $200 walmart brand treadmill.
Only the exceptions can be exceptional.
I'll still say car because I sprung for a 2022 EV which was considerably more than my father wanted me to spend.

Bicycle for $1,100. I could have gone for a more economical model for $850 instead.

Hard question, almost everything I own is pretty middle of the road or less. I have a computer bag that was $350. You can get nearly as good ones for like $75.

I mean, in a way, yeah. My life and career would have been in a very different place without that, so in terms of what it's cost me, yes. Not really in the spirit of the question, though.
Only the exceptions can be exceptional.
I own a $2200 TV and I own a $1600 mattress

Those are probably the most expensive things.
stop victory lapping around your desk, your chair has rollers, it's not even really exercise
My car probably even if it is kind of a POS.

After that probably my PS5 or PC (though PC is pretty dated at this point too).
