[BOST 2022] DAY 9 - Thunderstorm

Board 8

I am absolutely in love with the intensity of this track, the absolutely insane saxophone being, of course, a highlight. I know this intense, proggy, almost violent track isn't for everyone, but holy hell is it for me. There's absolutely no room to breathe and I fucking love it.

Of course its opponent is kind of crazy too. Definitely comparatively normal in structure, but the intro is just super bonkers. Really wish that vocal style kept up for the rest of the song.

This track starts off with some out of this world ambience. Dark synths and a sound that just pops. So crisp and clean. It really keeps me on my toes with a sound that shifts between serenity and danger. And I gotta love that musical call-out to the first game!

The dread of this intro is a incredibly good follow-up to the previous track. And I'm happy to find that that intensity comes back in later on in the track. Very skin crawling.

Holy shit, if this song isn't an absolute masterpiece. The cold oppressive crisp weight of that intro, the somber, yet hopeful wail of the oboe + guitar ... The way the melody swells in the latter half. Despair and hope intertwined in absolute perfect harmony.

Pretty fun J-pop fare. The eurobeat(?) sound is no slouch either.

With apologies to Gunvolt today ... RoR2 has what's possibly been my favourite set in the entire contest so far, I question if there even IS any song in the contest I'd vote over Once in a Lullaby ...
