But how hard would it be to replace my graphics card on my desktop?

It was a prebuilt (CyberPower) I got black Friday 2022 with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 but they're about to release the RTX 4070 super and I think I'd like to upgrade. Is it terribly hard to swap them out?

Just make sure to follow all safety procedures and watch a video, and in most cases it's one of the easiest things you can do.

Now if the people who built your PC were, like....bad at it, it might be somewhere harder to pull out. But at the end of the day your literally just unplugging it, yanking it out, snapping the new one into place and plugging it back in. It's surprisingly intuitive.

Now, as for the actual card you're looking at....uh, you'll want to get someone else to answer that for you since I haven't actually looked at cards in years, but my understanding is that upgrading to the same tier one generation up is maybe not the move.

I'd also spring for the 4080 super. And it's prebuilt in the sense that I bought it from Best Buy.

What kind of gaming to you do? Unless you are full 4k, I personally don't see a reason to update 1 generation. For 800, you would do better upgrading CPU and monitors. Unless of course you are already 4k, then for sure go 4070

CPU is AMD Ryzen 7 5700.

I mean thats a sick CPU, you could easily upgrade to 2k monitors, and play almost any game on ultra.

Does it matter that I play on an LG 4K TV?

Depends on your refresh rate, which i am sure is high. I'm guessing with that setup and if you upgrade to the 4070 - you could get...80ish fps on ultra on most games.

Drop down the settings a little im sure you could get 120fps which would look sick on that setup.

Keep in mind I am completely talking out of my rear, and you should wait for someone smarter than me before you make a decision.

What's the refresh rate, or do you have a model?

SLC8600BSTV4 was the model # from Best Buy

At the end of the day as long as your TV does at least 120hz or 144hz it's fine.

I don't know how many 4k TVs that aren't garbage Walmart door busters or aliexpress grifts at gonna be capped at 60hz, but maybe it's more common that I realize.

Oh, right, LCD or OLED is also an important question.

If you get a new graphics card:
  1. Make sure it'll fit in your case. Graphics cards are fucking enormous these days, so you wouldn't want to buy it and then find out it's too long.
  2. Make sure your power supply can handle it. I don't know if there's a huge difference in wattage draw between generations. Also, check that it's got whatever connections you need to put into the card (e.g. you might be going from 1 power connection on the graphics card to 2.

Swapping out the card is relatively easy.

It's a Cyberpower PC which I'm assuming means it has a glass side panel.
Take the glass panel off.
Unplug the power cable from your 3070.
Unplug yor displayport/hmdi cable.
Unscrew your 3070 then reach down to the motherboard and press that tab holding your 3070.
It should making a popping sound and then your card will come loose.
Now all you have to do is plug your new 4070 super into that slot and plug in the power cable and you're all set.

Make sure to run the nvidia driver program to update your drivers.

Edit: make sure to put you glass panel on your bed and NOT ON A TILE FLOOR OR KITCHEN COUNTERTOP. And also work on your PC while it's resting on its side, never install things while it's upright.

Also don't listen to these people telling you to change tv/monitor. That stuff can be upgraded later when you feel like it. I looked at your pc model and it has a 800w PSU, you're more than ready to upgrade to the 4070 super. That's the card I'm getting when I build a new pc this year. Nothing wrong with upgrading from 3070 to 4070 super.

Upgrading to a 4070 Super is fine, but not great if you wanna play at 4K. The 4070 Ti Super is probably closer to what you want. It upgrades the VRAM to 16GB, which is a big help at higher resolutions.
All the stars in the sky are waiting for you.
Swapping out similar GPUs is the easiest thing to do with a PC by far, I would say. You literally just look at where your old one was, and replace it. You might not even need to install anything. The 4070 should be about the same size as the 3070 too.

That said, it's a pretty marginal upgrade. I don't really see what you could do with the 4070 that you couldn't with the 3070. It would only be worth it if you're able to sell the 3070 for most of its cost, making the upgrade only cost around $100.
