Huh, Titans might have a decent WR corps next year with the addition of Calvin Ridley if everyone stays healthy (big if)

Got Mason Rudolph too

I mean, at the time I argued against trading for Rodgers because they should build around the great talent they had acquired and not blow it all up when the team was more than just a QB away. And I still believe that.

But I'd be lying if I didn't say I also was against it because Rodgers has these fucking awful takes and I just don't want that anywhere near a team I'm a fan of.

Potentially an overpay actually given his massive cap hit but I'll take it.

On the last year of his deal, and the Bears still have a good amount of cap space. Even in a year where he only played 13 games and was 31 years old, dude had 1200 yards. I love this move.

So uh, who's their backup? Rudolph and Trubisky are gone, too.

Also the Vikings acquired Houston's 1st round pick, so I'm guessing they plan to trade up, maybe for Drake May?

I keep seeing McCarthy enter these discussions too. Some mock drafts have the Chargers trading down, which feels a little crazy to me because Nabers is so darn good.
Donny: Are they gonna hurt us, Walter?
Walter: No, Donny. These men are cowards.
I don't think the Vikings need to trade up if they want McCarthy unless they're afraid Denver will try to jump them (and if they do, Minnesota should just let them)

For a 6th rounder that can become a 4th rounder depending on how much he plays.

Brutal.
Would have rather kept him for that price even if he was backup for whoever we draft.

I could end up being wrong but I'm also just not as high as everyone else seems to be on Caleb and I watch a lot of college football so it's not like I've only seen highlights
That's kind of crazy. Mac Jones got a 6th rounder. I'm guessing there just wasn't many teams left interested. Vikings need a QB, but they're waiting for Aaron Rodgers next year. Patriots want to draft. Commanders want to draft. Falcons got Cousins.

Yeah, I'd hold onto Fields because honestly his trade value goes up after the draft if a team doesn't get the QB they wanted, and up again if a QB gets hurt in training camp or early in the season.

I'm relieved Fields got moved to the Steelers. A few weeks ago there was serious news campaigns about us swapping our first round pick with the Bears' #9 for Fields.

Eh I don't think that would have been a good idea. Fields was too well of a respected leader in the locker room. Would have been too much friction bringing in a new guy and having Fields be the backup.

Agree with this however
I've got a few Bears fan friends, and I'm seeing one who thinks Fields is destined to bite Chicago in the back by winning multiple Super Bowls, and Caleb Williams will be out of the league in three years.

Like, they need to realize why this was all they could get for Fields. Teams don't think he's a good QB and won't turn into one.

He's not going to be that guy but I do also think he's better than he showed at the Bears. He may need to sit and watch a bit though.

His contract situation probably led to his lack of value too but I get why nobody would want to give him a starting gig right now
I think Josh Allen has fooled people into thinking accuracy is an easily fixable problem.

Although based on the Fields situation, maybe they're learning.

I dont know, Jordan Love went from having Tim Tebow-level accuracy early on in the season to improving his accuracy to near elite levels by the end of year. I'm still not sure how that happened or which version of Love the Packers will get the next season, but it was quite the accelerated in-season growth.

As for the Fields trade. Oh boy. Justin truthers must be in shambles after this one. Since early reports indicate he will be sitting behind Wilson, this looks like a 6th rounder next year, which is basically nothing for a guy drafted, what, 11th overall in 2021.

Fields just wasn't the guy. What confused me about him is that Bears fans are usually never shy of criticizing their players, especially their QBs, but for some reason Fields was just treated differently. A lot of the fanbase seemed to just be looking through rose-colored glasses when viewing the guy, blaming everyone but him for his shortcomings. There was recently even some chatter from some fans thinking they'd get a 1st rounder for the guy. That was never gonna happen.

And who knows, maybe it's true that he was another promising star that the Bears fucked up, but that's not any different from the long line of QBs before him.
Don't mind me. I'm just here for the contest.
Bears are desperate for a good QB and Fields showed them flashes

The Bears haven't had a QB that you'd say "oh I'd like to have him on my team" since...who knows

I'd say Cutler but people hated him so I don't know if he counts
