If you don't see what you nominated on here it's because it is on my extended schedule, I am taking all nominations down.

YESTERDAY: Ended up being one of the most predictable days we have ever had, "box art legendaries plus big Pokemon from the anime" was the obvious answer and while very few people actually had that combo of 4, these guys were all over the votes.

There was a brief period where Pichu lead Ho-Oh, but I've noticed that as topics go on the weirdos who are regulars in this topic (all the people I have tagged as friends) all have their votes cast and the people I don't recognize as well show up to vote for what is more likely the "correct" answer.

I had to throw out a vote for Espeon and a vote for Umbreon because two people did not read the rules. It didn't change the results though.

I think it is notable that there was a single vote for Totodile, which prevented that entire line from being snubbed. What will be the first starter line to get 0 votes in one of these?

Once again the model obviously is trying to avoid Pokemon for copyright reasons although I did get it to give me a Pikachu once. Despite me changing the prompt a few times to try to get more than one, it always just spat out one big Fakemon. Here's the best result:

Oh hey, I think I nominated this one. First time actually participating.

My initial bad attempt:

Prelude
Terra
One-Winged Angel
Close in the Distance

  • Prelude for arguably the most iconic theme in the series (I was thinking it doesn't really matter which one but you can pick the FF1 version if you want).
  • Terra for an iconic character theme that might be the "biggest pick" from the SNES games.
  • One-Winged Angel for being arguably the most iconic final boss theme in the series (see Final Fantasy Rushmore for more details) and to represent the PS1 era.
  • Close in the Distance because I wanted a pick from FF14 to rep the newer games and from what I can tell it's the culmination of the FF14 story up to that point.


Take this Rushmore with a grain of salt, as I listen to a lot of VGM but don't play many games. Folks with actual firsthand experience with the series will probably have different takes!

EDIT: case in point, it's Prelude, not Prologue, lol

I don't need you guys to specify which version of Prelude unless someone feels VERY strongly about one version being different enough/elevated enough to specifically be on the Rushmore

Same goes for any other recurring song. I think it's easier not to get granular

Also, if anyone has any other noms or noms they want to second, please do so. I'll work on the extended schedule once more people say what they want next

2 songs woven throughout the series, probably the most recognizable musical piece from a video game from a 'single' game, and I could probably bang my head for a year trying to choose a favorite FFXIV song but that one is suitably good of the main themes of the game.

Final Fantasy Main Theme

main theme was around in FF1, has skipped a few, but been in the vast majority and with multiple variations, from the 8 bit in FF1 to the 16 bit era with the SNES to the PS1 trilogy to FF15's version with a piano version and a rather somber version in 16, it's the series song.

Prelude is the intro to everything and occasionally is played in the game itself. it's no main theme but it's iconic.

OWA is pretty much the "FF has gone mainstream" theme. not my personal top 4, hell not my top 10, but it's significance is there.

...unsure of the last one. like there's vocal songs, there's super popular songs from a game (Dancing Mad), super popular songs that made it to multiple games (Battle on the Bridge), and other series running themes (Chocobo) that make me unsure what to put.

I don't think any selection for FF makes any sense without the first two (and the victory fanfare, but that's too short to be a full song unto itself). They're the most immediately recognizable tracks the series has. OWA is a step below that, representing the post-SNES period, and Answers reps the game with which FF began to swing back into prominence after hitting its slump. Seems about right to me.
