I hope when Ryu gets in Smash it's just NES references
In Japan the older games were Ninja Ryukenden and the modern ones were Ninja Gaiden, so at least from that perspective the anniversary makes sense.So it's like how Like a Dragon was called Yakuza in the West until 7, when the series switched genres and main characters, but in Japan it was always called that.
