I was once in that group and even had a few people on here as friends but changed both of those things in a heartbeat once I saw that some of us were not above doxxing others.

I use Messenger all the time. I have friends all over the globe, so there's no single app everyone is using. Phone numbers are unreliable, not everyone made the jump to Instagram. Granted, a lot of people delete their Facebook accounts out of nowhere, but it's still the best way I've found to keep in touch with people I've known since 2013ish or earlier.

I had totally forgotten about that B8 group. Pretty sure I was in it too.

My main experience with Facebook is:
  • Made an account forever ago.
  • Years later, tried to login and got a notice that my account would be banned unless I send them photo ID.
  • I upload a picture of my driver's license.
  • Don't hear back.
  • I try submitting the form a few more times.
  • My account gets banned at the time they originally stated.
  • If I try to login, it says the account doesn't exist.
  • If I try to create a new account with that email address, it says I can't use that email address.
Great UI they have.

I still have a Facebook account but only to use Facebook messenger. Unfortunately while all my oldest friends from high school/hometown have migrated to Discord, somehow my college friends absolutely refuses to move off of Facebook Messenger for no good reason.

Using Discord and Messenger both frequently really highlights just how shitty Messenger actually is

I have to hear my parents talk about what they see on NextDoor which is excruciating. I cannot believe people choose to be in groups like that. It sounds like a one-way ticket to poorer mental health

that's OK Leon I talk to you enough on a message board from 2002 on a video gaming website from 1995 that's somehow still active, specifically in topics where we discuss the compositions of fictional versions of mount rushmore centered primarily around pop culture
