It's still got a respectable playerbase to my knowledge. Nowhere close to the more notable competitive shooters though. They make a ton of money off of microtransactions these days, and this will probably make a killing.

Is that Mauga as Jet? Theres like 3 OW guys his size it could be and that image looks like none of them really
Ah yes, my favorite Cowboy Bebop characters

Cowboy Andy
Faye
Jet
A mascot suit
An adult woman doing a sexy cosplay of a child character
"You're childish. What are you getting? Are you getting strawberry? Ha! That's such a childish flavor, only children eat strawberry."
They at least look like they tried harder with this than the One Punch Man crossover
What a completely random crossover. It's hard to think of tw\o series with less in common.

Spike McCree
Faye Ashe
Jet Mauga
Ed Sombra
Ein Hamster

This whole thing is like five years too late IMO, people wouldve eaten this up back when Overwatch was actually well-liked

It's not as big as it once was, but it still has a respectable playerbase I think. I feel like all the criticism and outrage it got when OW2 came out was a loud minority in retrospect. I think the launch on Steam is a great example of that; it made news everywhere because it got review bombed to hell, but the Steam launch DID bump up the userbase by a lot.

And also, yeah, the move to free to play made it ridiculously more profitable. It's doing fine despite all the people screaming that it was ruined forever.
Okay, I rolled a 14. What's that mean? Hsu

I really disliked the new way they added of obtaining items. It was even worse than lootboxes.

Same here. The last straw for me was when they revealed they knew the PvE wasn't going to happen as advertised for months. Uninstalled on the spot and never looked back
It's tempting to linger in this moment, while every possibility still exists. But unless collapsed by an observer, they will never be more than possibilities.
Its intentional since loot boxes quick making them much money. If you could earn everything just playing again that would be great so now theres no reason to be excited about any kind of cosmetics because theyre too expensive and basically real money only
The thing, the new system is distinctly worse than lootboxes if you want to get all the stuff without paying for them. But that's not necessarily a good thing for a healthy game, and I think more people need to accept that.

I didn't pay a single cent for lootboxes in Overwatch 1 and I still manage to get nearly EVERY SINGLE cosmetic piece they ever released for that game. That's great as a player, but not so great for a developer. Overwatch 2 makes it harder to get things for free, but if that helps fund more ongoing content then I'm all for that. OW2 has had way more updates and additional stuff than the original game did, so that's a trade off that's worth taking imo. And honestly, I didn't need to have every item that came out anyway. I get enough free coins for OW2 to pick and choose the stuff I'm really interested in anyway, so it's not a really a tradeoff at all, it's just a win/win.
