Not a fan when going through the plot and you get a mediocre minigame stop starting and killing the pace as you need to figure out how it works. I went from hyped and looking forward to an expected encounter, to spending time on the phone looking up what I'm overlooking.
I had to force myself to move on trom Gongaga because knew this would happen. I thought the environment was great, the city and the story was really moving. And so figured I would try some side quests, just because liked the area and wanted to stay there longer. Then you hear Red say "I know we're on a mission but we just gotta help these chickens" and know it's gonna be a huge waste of time that will sour your memory.

It demands a lot from the player to be expert enough at game design meta to curate their own experience like that. But that's the nature of such a broad audience game.
