this is a serious contender for "hardest rushmore we've had so far". Vader is the only lock, and my personally take is that Disney and horror feel mandatory on a villains rushmore. Wicked Witch may not be movie-original but I think she rounds out the set brilliantly.

...a lot of people aren't reading the rules. Way too many of these nominations came from books! (Gruber is different than the villain in the book on which Die Hard is sorta based, even though he has the same last name.) I'd have nominated Blofeld from James Bond instead of Dr. Evil if he didn't come from a book first.

Movie Thanos and comics Thanos are pretty different honestly. Motivation and personality were basically made up for the MCU, comics version was just trying to bang death. No whole wanting balance or anything like that. Gems were also way, way more powerful. There's some story beats taken but it's largely original and there should be no problem with that version by the rules.

Yeah, I feel like if anything, Joker doesn't qualify here. Heath Ledger is a specific performance of the character, but I'd say Mark Hamill's Joker in particular rivals it. I'd also say it's not a drastically different interpretation of the character either.
