Evil Dead II took me a while to come around on, when I first saw it I was disappointed that it eschewed the grisly, threatening vibe of the first movie and took a more cheesy parodical direction instead. On top of which, it mucks up the continuity. I really had to mentally decouple it from the original to get into it.
At this point I wouldn't be surprised if the next one is
Beetlejuice
and we're gonna have one sad Tim Burton fan
