Asking for a friend

Drink approximately half of the provided two litres of saccharine salt juice along with four times as much water and repeat "I will not throw up, I will not throw up, I will not throw up" internally until I begin to believe it.

Music and low-stakes games on your phone with no time constraints are also good options. Sudoku or something.

When I'm trying hard not to vomit, repeating the litany against fear seems to be very effective. It kind of makes me feel like a jackass but if it works it works

I feel like it's one of those things, like counting sheep, where you need literally any simple process to take your mind off the task at hand to help you succeed at it. There's plenty of lamer self-empowerment monologues out there than the litany against fear, anyway.

If it's your first colonoscopy, the prep is by far the worst bit. If you follow the dietary advice strictly (no proper vegetable fibre for 24h but I would do ~36 hours beforehand, no solid food for 18h) and drink at least half the solution, the actual bum tube is a walk in the park. Generally the more unpleasant the prep, the more pleasant the procedure, and the less likely you did something wrong and they need to try again.

I've been following the advice and only having clear liquids today but it hasn't been all that bad. Just some light headaches and minor hunger pains, no vomiting or anything even close.

The music was a good idea. Helps the time pass by nicely.

People are supposed to vomit from it? I had it done once before and the prep was the single worst thing Ive ever experienced. Pretty much feels like emptying your bowels to the point of dying
I honestly didn't think it was that terrible. I went to the bathroom a lot and I was hungry but that was it. Just replay the AA games or something
while you slept, the world changed
Thankfully I haven't had to experience this yet

Jello helped. I enjoyed the prep oddly enough because I had to fill my belly (mine was mixed with gatorade and I only felt nauseous for a few minutes).

I didn't mind all the shitting. The hunger wasn't fun, I ended up with a headache and I was sorta bored. I think I was so focused on the prep that I let my day become centered around that, unfortunately.

Walter: No, Donny. These men are cowards.
My friend is actually spending the next 30 hours or so in your friend's shoes. Luckily his doctor gave him a fairly lenient list of things he can still have until tonight (Jell-O, black coffee, broth, popsicles) in addition to the Gatorade lax mixture. No salt juice for him.

I guess I'm just lucky. The worst part for me is drinking that vile solution, but even over the last 10 years the prep technology has improved immensely.

After drinking it, just make sure you're within 5 seconds of a toilet and keep a book or your phone handy.
to me hero's is just bad person
The prep solution I drank actually didn't taste too bad. Being on the toilet that often felt weird to be sure. I scheduled my colonscopy early in the morning so that I could sleep through as many of the fasting hours as possible.
Azuarc is my favorite arc of the Game of the Decade 2020 anime.

It actually is kind of nice to know your colon's getting cleaned out beforehand, even though it's a fuckin nightmare to go through
azuarc wasn't even home. he was playing Magic the Gathering at his buddy's store, which is extremely easy to verify
Also a little Vaseline for your butthole helps out a bit
