curious who all is participating in this one

one thing I'm noticing from this list is movie watchers seem to go really absurdly hard on both ends up the spectrum from "this is boring and anyone who says they like it is a liar" to "this is the greatest film ever made and nothing to come after will or can ever be better"

I think everything on the list is really good and that a handful of them are some of the best films ever made. At least like a third of the list are straight up masterpieces, so I guess you could sign me up as part of the second camp.

Though there are a few on here that I think might be difficult to sit through for people who haven't acquired a taste for that kind of film yet, Jeanne Dielman, Vive L'amour, and The Holy Mountain in particular.

But in the end for the people who take part, remember that after you'll have seen The Spirit of the Beehive and Pather Panchali, it will just make you inherently better than normal people. Even in the realm of cinephiles I think Satyajit Ray is underappreciated. Though in recent years a number of his films have gotten restorations, which they've really needed. I remember seeing Devi and The Hero off of transfers from some wrecked prints, and now you can get those on great looking blurays since being restored.
