This series is definitely a drama. I was amazed halfway through realizing there had been, like, one noteable sequence of humor besides just a little quirk here or there. You've got a lead singer who's legitimately on the spectrum (I cannot IMAGINE this is remotely contentious in the fanbase if they don't ever outright say it, it's a constant presence for her from literally her very first scene), and every other girl is battling in their own personal issues and hangups. No Nico Nico Nis here's, no offense Nico you are a treasure.
I expected a low budget Love Live, but really these shows aren't even similar besides "Lives". By the halfway point there's only been a single instance of actually showing a song being played, and it was a flashback montage
(All of episode 3 being in the first person was super cool). I definitely understand the take I've seen that MyGo walked so Girls Band Cry could run.
Really, the only issue I have is that the VA work is pretty unbalanced. Anon herself sounds, uh, bad? Like, noteabley bad. Still not totally used to it.
