I just wrapped up a run in Terraria

(calamity mod)

I played with a couple friends, the run was very long but it was a nice bonding experience

I do wish there was a Yharim fight implemented though, I wanna take down the Tyrant.

I'd like to keep playing Terraria, but I don't know if I'll have many more chances!

  1. Any tips for getting started out? I've tried getting back into it a few times, but I get massive anxiety about building myself chasms to block out whatever corruption creep there might be, and/or, finding it out and rooting it destroying it before I can actually enjoy making a house and fishing and oh god there's just too much to do
  2. Why not many more chances?

plant sunflowers or make a wall of clay on the surface and corruption won't be able to spread past it before hardmode; it can only spread along grass IIRC. If you want to make chasms, doing a few before Wall of Flesh won't be too tough. Get potion setups ready early too. I always forget how much they help

You could always play it in our monthly asyncs!

I was kinda trying to make this a new minecraft topic but also those are actual thoughts I had

I think you WANT a certain level of corruption to be able to do some things. My friends didn't eliminate much of it at all, but that might also be a mod thing. They did like 95% of the heavy lifting, some of it on their own <_<

AP Terraria does sound really fun! It's in the same mental category as Stardew where I really wanna but boy howdy does that sound like way more time (and skill) than I have most months

You want corruption to exist but very quarantined. Even if it's all gone you can spread it from a seed or any ebonstone you have lying around. I'd usually corrupt an island and make an area underground that's isolated to be able to farm mobs

Don't stress over it, nothing is permanent. Just go with the flow and do what feels right. If you're dying then do something different.

Unless youre playing on a high difficulty level (I actually think a first timer could do Expert without much trouble) you really dont need to stress about stopping corruption.

Yeah, pretty much. It does help that corruption creep is basically nonexistent pre-hardmode, which means you can pretty easily quarantine what exists. Then you just gotta live with whatever crops up at the start of hardmode.

I played a Master Mode world back in December and it was very good times, but it did burn me out a bit. I've watched people play Calamity though, and it's just way too much going on for me to want to care or try it myself.
love calamity

it's a complete disaster but it's a beautiful disaster, and honestly it could be complete garbage but still be worth playing because it has the second greatest soundtrack of all time
