I can speak to not having much of an immediate family. I now basically have my sister, her husband, and her nieces. My parents are gone (essentially - my mother has alzheimer's and is not long for this world). My mother is Taiwanese and came to the U.S. in her 20's so I barely know them. My father was estranged from his family too.
