I don't know why that's the conclusion you drew in a large-player game. My logic train/presumption is that taunter is a full -on lightning rod that redirected *every* night action its way, harmful or not, and a kill got cancelled out by a protection.
Maybe scum can't night kill? They can only day kill and only AFTER 24 hours? I feel like that would allow the game to be ridiculously broken if we just ended every day early though.

Taunter may not be an every night unlimited use role, and anyways it would just actually be called lightning rod if that's what it did.Actually I would theorize that if scum did have such a role, they couldn't use it last night with Knightz role being dead. They'd need to save it in case of emergency.
But also if there was a strong-arm EK that didn't get used then it would kill a lightning rod on a night like that. Which again, didn't happen last night
