I'd definitely say that the average FF14 player is wildly different from the normal MMO crowd on this.
Like when I played WoW (launch to end of WotLK) I was known in my guild as the "lore guy" and I was literally the only person I ever spoke to in-game who really knew the backstory to raids and dungeons, major npcs etc and why any of them mattered.
